Fuel Cell Senior System Safety Expert


  1. Key Objectives and Scope of the Position

Key targets of the role are:

functional safety development of systems, components and their integration into FCEV

lead work products and influence the design to ensure all safety requirements are implemented and satisfied


  1. Major Responsibilities and Degree of Influence

  • Responsible for system functional safety development to meet requirements of internal company standards and relevant external standards (e.g. ISO 26262) - Full Responsibility

  • Carrying out safety lifecycle activities e.g. safety planning, hazard analysis, safety goals, functional safety concept, FMEA, FTA, hardware and software safety analyses - Full Responsibility

  • Model and develop engineering solutions to ensure safety integrity of systems - Full Responsibility

  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure system functionality is safely implemented into the systems and vehicle - Full Responsibility

  • Manage safety requirements ensuring traceable implementation, verification and

  • Validation - Full Responsibility

  • Safety verification and validation activities - Full Responsibility

  • Support vehicle certification to ensure vehicle meets homologation requirements for all intended markets - Participation and / or Consultation

  • Promote functional safety interests and safety culture within the company - Shared Responsibility

  1. Qualifications

Education / Degree:

Bachelor or Master degree in electronics/electrical engineering, automotive engineering, safety engineering or related subject

Knowledge / Skills /Competences

Languages skills: English must be at least business fluent. Chinese would be advantageous.

General IT skills: Microsoft Office

Safety analysis software toolset such as medini analyze

Model based systems engineering (MBSE) methods and tools

Requirements management tools such as DOORS

Understanding of e-mobility technology

Pro-active and professional attitude to work within a team environment

Analytical thought process and working method


  1. Experience

Experience in a safety engineering role within the automotive industry

Experience of ISO 26262 application and work product delivery

Application of systems engineering principles and methodology

Experience in electrical and electronics hardware development

Experience in software development and related standards (e.g. MISRA C)


Experience with fuel cells, high pressure gas systems, high voltage systems
